UNIVERSITY RELATIONS
The main focus of University Relations (UR) is to build strong relationships and connections within the university with the aim of supporting the goals of AIESEC Sydney. Two main groups which UR works with in order to discuss mutually beneficial partnerships are staff members and student societies.
Members of the University Relations team are responsible for the UR process involves:
• Setting up and going on meetings with relevant contacts in order to discuss potential partnership proposals
• Tailoring our offerings and proposal based on what is most suitable to the faculty and staff member or student society and contact, after researching to discover their interests
• Producing follow up material such as high quality proposal documents to sign off on, after sorting out the details of partnership. Multiple follow up meetings may be required
• Identifying ways to maintain a high quality relationship and ensuring this carries on into the future
UR members will gain:
• Negotiation skills, including the ability to combine and tailor multiple offerings to suit the other side while seeking a variety of possible benefits (including sponsorship, access to marketing channels, rooms and equipment, co-hosting events, speakers or mentors for AIESEC Sydney members, the hiring on an AIESEC exchange intern from overseas…)
• Email, phone and face to face communication skills
• Leadership and teamwork experience
• Communication with high level staff from different faculties and a deeper understanding of the university
• A chance to set up a collaboration between AIESEC Sydney and relevant student societies
AIESEC's vision is "peace and fulfilment of humakind's potential.
AIESEC is the world’s largest student-run organisation, run by youth - like you – who are passionate about global awareness and leadership. We want to enrich people’s lives through international experiences allowing them to make an impact on the world. This is achieved by sending exchange participants on our Go Global Programs. Exchange participants not only make a direct social impact, but they also develop as leaders of tomorrow.
... I have been able to see both the direct and indirect impact I can have on the youth and the communities across the globe.
