Go on an adventure of a lifetime. Go on an AIESEC exchange.

What We Offer

Why go on an AIESEC Internship?

  • Create direct positive impact – all of our internships make a direct positive impact on the community in which you work. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the change you have made in someone else’s life. There are many disadvantaged communities out there – step up and lead the change.
  • Build lifelong international networks - Connect with youth from all over the world. Once you’ve worked with like-minded individuals for 6 weeks in an international environment, you’ll never forget them.
  • Enrich your global perspective – gain a different perspective on the world while experiencing a new culture. Being placed out of your comfort zone will allow you to discover more about yourself, what you’re passionate about and what you want to do in the future.
  • Personal and professional development – AIESEC is about international experience and leadership. Our exchange program will provide you with first-hand experience in teamwork as well as leadership. Stand out from the crowd by doing something different, and gaining a unique set of skills in the process.

You live once.
Enjoy youth.
The world is waiting.

Why do we offer exchange programs?

We are a group of university students - like you – that are passionate about global awareness and leadership. We want to enrich people’s lives through global awareness and make an impact on communities. This is achieved by sending exchange participants on global internship programs. Exchange participants not only make a direct social impact, but they also develop as leaders of tomorrow. This aligns with AIESEC’s vision: peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential.

How do we do it?
AIESEC Sydney sets up internships locally so that we can take in exchange participants from around the world. Likewise, local AIESEC committees around the world are busy doing the same thing so that we can go on internships to their countries.

Where can you go?
We focus on developing countries in Asia-Pacific, Central-Eastern Europe and Africa.  To see examples of what you would do while overseas, please see the exchange descriptions by clicking here or past exchange experiences by clicking here

When do we Do It?
We have programs available all year round. If you would like to go on exchange right away we can arrange everything for you as early as 1-2 months. The global peak for exchanges occurs in June-July (as this is when it is summer holidays for the northern hemisphere). However, most Australian exchange participants end up going in December.

How Long Do Internships Last?
Internships generally last for 6 – 8 weeks. They may last for up to 18 months. The reason why the minimum internship duration is 6 weeks is because AIESEC wants to ensure that you get the most out of your cultural experience and impact on other communities. Anything less than 6 weeks would be like a holiday – an AIESEC exchange program is more than that.

Cost
Many volunteer organizations offer very similar programs in similar countries with similar experiences. Typically, they last around 4 weeks and cost about $2-4K. This is about the cost of a holiday, and if you think about it, it’s a small price to pay for a life-changing experience. This is why thousands of Australians go on these programs every year.

An AIESEC internship lasts for at least 6 weeks costs $600 – even those lasting 18 months cost $600. The reason why are so cheap is because we are a not-for-profit and completely student run. At local levels, we are all university students – volunteers - working out of our free will to facilitate these exchange programs. This is because we want to give as many students as possible the chance to go overseas and have a life changing experience.

Like any volunteer exchange program; flights, travel insurance, visas, vaccinations and living expenses are at your own cost. However, many of our programs offer free accommodation with a host family.
